Troubleshooting Code 800A139A - Expected
quantifier in regular expression
Introduction to Error Code 800A139A
This error code, 800A139A occurs when you attempting to perform a regular expression search.
My suggestion is that there is a problem with the definition of the pattern
in the regular expression it self.
The Symptoms You Get 800A139A
The script does not execute as you hoped, instead you get a WSH error message.
Category: Microsoft VBScript runtime Description: Expected quantifier
in regular expression Number: 0x800A139A
The Cause of Error 800A139A
The underlying cause is a syntax error in the definition of the pattern in
the regular expression it self.
Option explicit Dim matches, model, filename, oFSO Set oFSO =
createObject(scripting.filesystemobject) Set model = New RegExp
model.pattern = "*\.txt|*\.cpp" filename = oFSO.getFolder(path).File
The Solution
In this example, keep your eye on the dots or periods (.)
In the pattern: "*\.txt " the problem is that the '*' is a repetition
symbol of the previous character, and in the above example I the character
before the '*' is missing. Consequently, the solution is to put in a
character, this is should be: ".*\.txt" (and not "*\.txt".)
Your precise solution may vary from this script. Best to research the
pattern matching syntax, for example = "*\.txt|*\.cpp" .

Recommends: WMI Monitor and It's Free!
Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) is one of the hidden
treasures of Microsoft operating systems. Fortunately, Solarwinds
have created the
WMI Monitor so that you can examine these gems of
performance information for free. Take the guess work out of which
WMI counters to use for applications like Microsoft Active Directory,
SQL or Exchange Server.
Thus utility makes it easy to check the health of a router or firewall. Check the real-time performance and availability statistics for any device
on your network.
