Namely it can use RTSP MMS. So, if you use IIS you are limited to stream HTTP only. MMS (Microsoft Media Server) is a protocol developed for Media Player. With MMS you can play audio or video without having to download the file first. RTSP (Real Time Streaming Protocol) is a client-server multimedia presentation control protocol. It was designed to stream multimedia over IP networks. It uses existing web infrastructure e.g. HTTP and works well both for single-viewers wanting media-on-demand or large audiences. Note IIS v6 is one of the most improved features of Server 2003. See more here.
